August 15, 2020

Being successful in the Property Industry takes a lot of hard work.

One needs to persevere and a friendly personality. One needs to stay connected with clients whether past or present but also continue seeking ways to learn more about the industry. Here are some tips:

1. Enroll with the right real estate company

If you are new to the industry, the best thing is to enroll with a reputable estate agent. Estate agents normally enroll on a self-employed basis. Different companies offer different conditions, so make sure you find a good environment –  you will be spending a lot of time with those people! When deciding on the agency you want to work for, find out if the company specializes in renting or selling and decide the path you want to go. Renting can provide fast income but in smaller amounts, whilst selling provides you higher income, but at a slower pace.

Some agents try to do both, we don’t recommend it because in real estate being focused means being successful.

2. Build your contacts list

In real estate, who you know is very important. Asking for referrals is crucial in building your contact list. Make sure you have a customer management software to keep up with your list of contacts so no one is forgotten and keep track of their past requirements. At Owners Best we have a custom made system that enables all our agents easy tracking of what is happening both with properties and their buyers.

3. Social Media presence

Nowadays, social media has become increasingly important and many prospective clients, browse the internet to find their dream home before physically approaching an estate agency. Create a social media page – do not mix your
personal and business accounts. Do not only list the properties but also some tips and tricks.

Stay involved on daily basis with your followers.

4. Portray an outgoing personality

Your personality affects the people you encounter. It is therefore important to make your clients feel important and give them attention, without being too personal or intrusive. Balance is crucial, as an agent you have to know a lot about the client in order to help him find the ideal home, however, it is important not to get too intrusive in the client’s privacy.

Know the details of how the property market works from contract terms to planning authority requirements, so you can explain to your clients who might not be well versed in this market. However, always refer them to professionals such as architects or notaries for certain detailed explanations.

Make sure to list your clients`needs and requirements.

5. Market Yourself

Make sure you stay connected with potential clients, due to the fact that the majority nowadays browse the internet to find any product or service, inclusive of properties. Make virtual tours and make good quality photos of the properties you are marketing.
